From 2005 – 2015, Dr. Cheryl Herrera was the Director of Undergraduate Student Academic Services and Faculty Associate, College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University (ASU), where she managed and supervised the activities of the Student Academic Services Office serving undergraduate and graduate students. From 1996-2005, Dr. Herrera was the Director of Student Services in the College of Public Programs at ASU. From 1989 to 1996 she held several positions at ASU including Faculty Associate Political Science, Academic Advisor College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Coordinator of the Faculty Ambassadors Program.
Dr. Herrera’s teaching experience includes faculty roles at Arizona State University, where she taught Law and Society, Public Policy Development, and Student Success seminars. She was successful in securing over $750,000 in funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students. Her publications can be found in Research in Higher Education, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Legislative Studies Quarterly. Her current professional memberships include the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions, Inc. (NAAHP), National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and Soroptimist International of Elk Grove (SIEG).
In her current role at CNU-CHS, Dr. Herrera oversees Student Affairs and Admissions, Directs Student Success and Career Services, and teaches Student Success and U.S. Government. She also collaborates with colleagues to foster a climate of academic excellence, collaboration, and service.
