Debbie's journey as an RN has seen many changes over the years. From three years in the US Air Force at David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB working female surgery and oncology to the Surgical ICU to civilian work ranging from Emergency Room, Sutter General's Subacute Unit to ambulatory monitoring, Urgent Care and then leadership and management of the Urgent Care. Next came Case Management at UC Davis Medical Center for 18 years where she obtained her Certification in Case Management (CCM). In all these years, she found herself teaching, coaching and mentoring nurses and doctors, so of course when she went back to school later in life, the focus was on nursing education (MSN-Ed) and has been teaching ever since.
Her first teaching job was with University of Phoenix teaching both the RN to BSN and MSN students while still working at UC Davis. She quickly was promoted to the College Chair of the Nursing program, eventually managing all the nursing programs for the state of California as well as teaching and managing the online Public Health courses in the state. Since University of Phoenix changed direction in their programs, Debbie moved on to teach with Unitek College, BSN program when the program began in 2022. She is now excited to teach with California Northstate University as they begin their BSN program. It is a pleasure to work with a multi-disciplinary team again!
