CHS Scholarships

California Northstate University College of Health Sciences (CNUCHS) offers three different scholarships opportunities for new and continuing students

Merit Scholarship

The CNUCHS Merit Scholarship comprises of three tiers: The President Scholarship, the Dean Scholarship, and the Scholastic Scholarship. The Merit Scholarships recognizes academic ability and other attributes demonstrating potential academic promise at CNUCHS and beyond. First year students are reviewed to be considered for this three-tier Merit Scholarship award. A comprehensive analysis of the academic potential is conducted and includes academic history, SAT / ACT when provided, the personal statement, and the GPA. There is no need to fill out an application. When awarded, scholarships are applied to tuition.

  • President Scholarship Award: Accepted applicants with a 3.90 or higher GPA are considered for an award of $7,500.00 per academic year*. Please note that only the GPA, by itself, is not a determinant for the award decision (see above). Recipients of this award must continue to maintain a 3.90 or higher GPA each semester to retain the scholarship through graduation. One semester with a GPA below 3.90 will result in a forfeit of the scholarship, and it will not be reinstated after that, even if the student reaches a GPA of 3.90 and above in future semesters.

  • Dean Scholarship Award: : Accepted applicants with a 3.75 to 3.89 GPA are considered for an award of $5,000.00 per academic year*. Please note that only the GPA, by itself, is not a determinant for the award decision (see above). Recipients of this award must continue to maintain a 3.75 to 3.89 GPA each semester to retain the scholarship through graduation. One semester with a GPA below 3.75 will result in a forfeit of the scholarship, and it will not be reinstated after that, even if the student reaches a GPA of 3.75 and above in future semesters.

  • Scholastic Scholarship Award: Accepted applicants with a 3.20 to 3.74 GPA are considered for an award of $3,000.00 per academic year*. Please note that only the GPA, by itself, is not a determinant for the award decision (see above). Recipients of this award must continue to maintain a 3.90 or higher GPA each semester to retain the scholarship through graduation. One semester with a GPA below 3.90 will result in a forfeit of the scholarship, and it will not be reinstated after that, even if the student reaches a GPA of 3.90 and above in future semesters.


President’s Diversity Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes achievement and potential of students who, through sharing their varied cultural perspectives, will enhance the education, excellence, and diversity of our CNUCHS student body.

This scholarship looks to award undergraduate students of African American or Latino heritages who intend to study health sciences at CNUCHS. The scholarship pays for all tuition, fees, books, and health insurance. Students must maintain a 3.00 GPA each semester to keep the scholarship until graduation.

Continuing Student Need-Based Scholarship (CSNB)

The CSNB Scholarship is available in fall and spring semesters to all current CNUCHS students (including PHPBs) not receiving the President’s Diversity Excellence or the Merit Scholarships.This scholarship serves to act as partial aid for current CNUCHS students who may need supplementary assistance during their time at CNUCHS.

To be considered for a CSNB Scholarship, student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, be in good academic and conduct standing, and have attended at least one term as a CNUCHS full-time student at the time of the award.

Awards range from $500.00 to $3,000.00. Awards are applied to tuition.
