About

Dr. Parisa Jazbi earned her Ph.D. degree in Microbiology from the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University – Baton Rouge in December 1997. Her minor field of study is Biochemistry. In her research, she has explored the nature of the interaction between E.coli RNA polymerase and promoter DNA. She has also worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at the Department of Microbiology at UC Davis from 1998 – 1999. In addition to her research, she has been teaching biology-related courses at various institutions including Sacramento State University and the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) for the past 20 years.

She has acquired valuable skills through her teaching career that enables her to be an effective teacher. She enjoys teaching and considers working in a learning institution to be the most rewarding career. She has a keen interest in outreach activities, particularly when they help students serve as effective representatives of the University.
