About

Dr. Freed is a psycholinguist, a cognitive psychologist focused on individual differences in reading comprehension. She studies how things like memory, background knowledge, vocabulary, and IQ work together to influence someone’s ability to comprehend and remember a text. Her research involves language processing, memory, and health literacy. After completing her studies at University of California, Davis (UCD), Erin taught a wide variety of Psychology classes at UCD and Sacramento State University before joining CHS. She enjoys using active learning techniques to teach students the foundational concepts and critical thinking skills that they need to explore Psychology, not only academically, but as it applies to the real world and daily life.
