Unique Opportunities

Supporting the mission of the college and the university, the nursing curriculum includes specific coursework including service-learning and scholarly research.

Nursing students participate in an academic yearlong experience in community service-learning that fosters the individual’s commitment to service and addresses human and community needs in Sacramento.  To date, students in the college have contributed over 17,000 hours of direct service with organizations around the Sacramento region.  This course series is embedded into the BSN curriculum and sets the tone for our emerging nurse leaders.

Additionally, consistent with our current undergraduate population, our future nurse leaders are also engaging in a capstone scholarship course.  This course promotes transfer of knowledge from their previous coursework and experience into an evidence-based paper and presentation.

Nursing students have the opportunity to present their research at our annual College Research Day, with additional chances to present on a larger scale at the CNU Research Day.
